2019 Metro DC Appraisal Conference

Straddling two states and the nation's capitol, metro DC presents a number of challenges and opportunities for real estate appraisers. You'll find solutions to those challenges and open a wide variety of doors to those opportunities at AIDC's 2019 Metro DC Appraisal Conference…and 7 hours of continuing education credit!

Henry J. Goodfriend MCRHenry J. Goodfriend MCR, President of the Goodfriend Global Group and Global Lead, Real Estate Transactions, Corporate Global Real Estate for The Estee Lauder Companies will open the conference with the Local Effect of Global Economics. Globalization has impacted nearly every aspect of modern life, including the valuation of real estate. Goodfriend will share specific insights on how these macroeconomic issues and trends affect valuation at the microeconomic level.

The Appraisal Institute's Director of Government Relations, Bill Garber, will follow up with an update on the regulatory trends framing the area's real estate market and appraisal practices. He’ll be followed by two breakout panels looking at the latest and greatest in report writing technology for residential and commercial appraisers.

After lunch, Ryan McCormick, (invited) Senior Vice President & Counsel, Real Estate Roundtable will bring us up-to-date on the impact of the recently passed tax reform. Two more breakouts will follow looking at hybrid appraisals on the residential side and BPOs/BOVs on the commercial side. A panel of developers will then share the latest news on a number of metro DC area projects including the arrival of Amazon, construction of Maglev and the latest news from Metro DC Transportation regarding the Purple and Silver lines.

Environmental and sustainability issues are increasingly important in the appraisal and valuation of land and property. Mann will help appraisers better understand how to address these critical issues in their work.
